How to apply for a Professional Account?
To be a Professional Client, you must meet two of the below three criteria:
- Have you traded a significant size, on the relevant market at an average frequency of 10 trades per quarter over the previous four quarters?
- Does the value of your financial instruments and cash deposits exceed €500,000?
- Have you worked, or do you work, in the financial sector for at least one year in a professional position involving an understanding of leveraged products like CFDs?

Who can request for a Professional Client Account?
A Retail Client can request to be categorised as a Professional Client and waive any higher level of protection in line with the applicable regulations.
What are the Client Categorisation Rights available?
A Professional Client can request to be categorised as a Retail Client and obtain a higher level of protection in line with the Client Categorisation Policy.
What documents are acceptable for each eligibility requirement?
At least two out of three eligibility criteria shall be met:
- For trade size & volume: recent account statements (not older than 12 months) indicating trade size and volume in leveraged financial assets.
- For the size of the portfolio: recent account statements (not older than 12 months) from credit or financial institutions showing cash savings, stock portfolios, trading accounts, etc.
- For professional experience: recently issued letter of character from another credit or financial institution or evidence of professional experience (not older than 6 months).
How can I apply for Professional Client status with Skilling?
To apply for Professional Client status, follow these steps:
- Create an account with Skilling as a retail client.
- Download and complete the application form provided on the Skilling website.
- Send the completed form and any supporting documentation to [email protected].
- Please note that you will be responsible for informing Skilling about any changes that may affect your current categorisation.
